As the 3rd largest San Diego County beach town, Oceanside is a laid-back, relaxed community that offers excellent surfing and the widest beaches in Southern California. Oceanside has a strong military connection, with the West Coast’s largest Marine Corps base at Camp Pendleton directly to the community’s north. Carlsbad borders Oceanside to the south, and the Pacific Ocean forms the town’s western boundary.

Oceanside’s most sought-after properties are those located along the beachfront, where spacious homes have ocean frontage and spectacular panoramic views stretching from Dana Point to La Jolla. Prices tend to rise in line with proximity to the ocean, though no property within Oceanside is far from the beach. Other Oceanside real estate includes single family houses and condominiums ranging from renovated mid-century properties to contemporary custom builds.
Oceanside’s residents enjoy a wonderful coastal lifestyle with a great climate and awe-inspiring sunsets and ocean vistas. Oceanside’s proximity to Camp Pendleton means that many military families live within the community. It is also roughly equidistant from Los Angeles and San Diego and is within a short drive of many other coastline communities, inland open space preserves, and an abundance of outdoor activity areas. From fishing off Oceanside Pier in the early morning to relaxing around beach fire pits at night, this eclectic community offers a uniquely Californian seaside living experience
Each Thursday evening, Oceanside’s Sunset Market spans four city blocks along Pier View Way with over 200 food vendors and live music. This family-friendly event runs all year long and has a KidZone with a variety of children’s activities. In September, Oceanside Harbor Days features a children’s costume contest, arts-and-crafts booths, military displays, food vendors, and a beer garden.
Oceanside is a major part of Californian skate culture, and there are several skate parks located within the community. These include the 22,000-square-foot Prince Park Skatepark, which has two bowls, snake runs, and street features. Oceanside’s surfing culture is just as important to the community’s heritage, and visitors can explore exhibitions related to this at the California Surf Museum on Pier View Way.
